Don't get me wrong - I'm not really against the whole "student loan scheme is sexist" movement - after all, the solutions to the problem they propose will benefit both men and women equally, so everybody wins!
I just find their position a bit shaky. That position being - as stated in the comic - "the loan scheme treats men and women exactly the same, therefore they are discriminating against women". Um, what? Okay, maybe society is in such a state that that a women still earn less than men for doing the same work, and other such factors (that sounds like crap to me, but I haven't done the proper research to make a big deal out of my opinion on that matter), which in turn causes women to take longer to pay off their loans than men. So, if this is the case, shouldn't the accusatory finger be pointing at the employers who still charge an estrogen tax on some employees? By all means, attack the student loan scheme, there's plenty of things wrong with it already without making up silly accusations like this.
Imagine two people go to a burger place and order one of the same burger each. Person A eats his burger and is still hungry, while Person B almost can't finish his burger because he finds it so filling. Should Person A then be entitled to pay less for his burger than Person B due to their differing metabolisms? No. Was that a good analogy? Also no...
Still, at least I'm not the only one who feels this way.
It is now 1.30am, my apologies if this rant makes little sense.
